ATS BILLET CT27 250-370 horsepower

Hands down the best CT26 upgrade available anywhere! So much so, that our customers named it the CT27.

The ATS CT27 was originally launched in 2004. Cold side upgrades had been around for years before then, but we found it suspicious that no matter what compressor wheel you chose, from a 46 trim T04E wheel up to a huge 60-1 they never made more than 275whp. We started examining, testing, and learning. We found that the remaining limit to power was the exhaust housing. We worked with a local machine shop to devise a CNC operation that reshaped the twin entry nozzle of the factory exhaust housing. This operation opens up the nozzle size to increase power, but also smooths the direction of flow where the two entries merge to reduce turbo lag. Don't try this one at home folks, we got it dialed in within 1/2 a millimeter. If you go too far you not only lose all the gains, but you increase lag significantly.  In 2013 we made the next big change to the CT27 and moved to billet compressor wheels. This change was huge and opened up a path to an additional 40whp. The laser etched ATS logo became standard around 2019. The billet wheels are actually smaller than our previous upgrades. Because of "extended tip" and "narrowed root" billet wheel technology we were able to make use of wasted space previously occupied by solid aluminum necessary to provide strength to the old cast wheel. The result is a lighter wheel that flows ~20% more than the old cast wheel.

In 2023 we moved all CT rebuild and upgrade operations inside ATS. We had been using an outside company for the rebuild and upgrade process for over ten years. Unfortuantely they sold their business and the new owners were more about a cash grab than taking care of us and our clients. So we made the decision to purchase our own turbo balancing equipment and build our own supply chain for parts.

ATS CT27 internals lined up for assembly. You can see the dynamic oil seals for the compressor side laid next to the 360 degree thrust bearings.

ATS billet water block off plate became standard around 2021. These are just a couple of items that make it easier to identify a REAL ATS turbo.

MR2 and All-Trac owners have been searching for a bolt on turbocharger upgrade with some REAL power potential for years. The results are in.

CT27 versus CT26 near stock MR2:

Mods on above car: 93T, 130,000+ miles, 10 psi (stock boost), Apexi' Intake. The CT27 added an additional 35 horsepower with no other modifications!! We highly recommend Valvoline VR1 or an oil with a similar zinc content. Adding a zinc additive to your oil is not the same thing. Proof of using high zinc oil is required for all warranty claims.

Note: Cores with damaged shafts or bearing housings may not be eligible for core refund. To avoid $400 core charge simply ship your turbo in advance, with wastegate actuator installed. Core Return Form required for credit. See Core Notes.
